The three words that can change your life: You’ve got cancer.
Years ago it seemed like a death sentence but today with the work being done by the Lance Armstrong Foundation and the YMCA, more people are fighting the battle and winning, going on to live happy, healthy & productive lives.  It is the focus on the living that brought the YMCA and the Lance Armstrong Foundation together, united in a common purpose – to ensure that cancer survivors and their families receive the help and support they need to thrive.
Over the last 3 years, the YMCA has offered the FREE LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program – a physical activity and wellness program for cancer survivors.  Hundreds of our neighbors and friends have benefited from this life-changing program on their journey back to health and wellness.
Each year 400+ walkers & runners participate in the Janice Garbolino Memorial 5K event in honor of Janice Garbolino, the former Health & Wellness director of the Metuchen Branch Y who lost her battle with breast cancer in 2002, and to raise money to ensure that the LIVESTRONG at the YMCA program continues to reach out and help those who need it most.
